GAP 517 1593

  • Hello all,
    What’s SOX GAP 517 please?

  • Never seen that one specific, can you elaborate please?
    Could be alot of things.

  • Unfortunately that’s all information that I have :?

  • Must be specific to your company.
There’s nothing so specifically referenced as sox gap anything in general usage.

    ok, thanks

  • Sounds like they’re talking about issue number 517 or something
(Don’t worry - 517 is not a big number when you first start)

  • I also wanted to share that I tried a # of Google searches yesterday, including ‘Sarbanes-Oxley 5.1.7’ and ‘Sarbanes-Oxley 5.17’ which provided a few hits on what appeared to be specific sections of the law. I was thinking maybe it’s a section # within the full text of the SOX act. I then tried GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Practices).
Still, in all the searches I couldn’t find anything of significance. Maybe with a little more specifics or context, we might be able to home in on this better to help; if our original poster receives more information 🙂

It’s exactly that I thought before posting :?

  • Dear friends,
    This is an interesting subject.
‘Sarbanes-Oxley 5.1.7’ and ‘Sarbanes-Oxley 5.17’ are not specific sections of the Sarbanes Oxley Act.
Reading the legal text, we can find only Section 501. No section 5.1.7 or 5.17
I agree with Denis. Must be specific to your company.
I called a friend, a very good securities attorney, and left him a message:
‘Did you hear what happened with SOX GAP 517?’
    Today he replied:
‘I sent a message to my staff, to find more. Is it April Fool’s Day?’
It is not an official legal answer , but I strongly believe that they found nothing.
