  • From the numerous searches I’ve made, I have yet ot find any templates that did not cost a small fortune from consulting companies.
Two which stand out: First one cost USD2,000/per license user and the min number of users was 25. Second one cost USD700/per license user with a min of 10 uers.
For small companies with only one or two individuals that need the informaton, these costs are far too high.
Small companies need stand alone software that can be adapted to their needs and not break the budget.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • You might want to give Microsofts Accelerator for Sarbanes-Oxley a try. It does cost nothing as long as you already have the infrastructure required.

  • Thanks, I’ll check it out.
For about 25 lines of text out of the entire act, Section 404 is certainly making life interesting.

  • Your’re wellcome.
I totally agree, if there has been some benefit coming along with that topic (in terms of reviewing processes and responsibilities), they’re most likely to get droped as the deadline get’s closer.
I wonder how the result’s will look and how the pcaob / sec response will look like.
If you have any further questions please let me know.

  • My company purchased the software needed to use the Mircrosoft Accelerator and looks like it will very helpful.
My dilemma is how to use the software on only one computer instead of using a network. Do I have to have a separte server even if I only want the software loaded on one computer?
    Thanks much.

  • That’s actually a bit unusual. Because in the sox activities are normally more than one person involved. Anyway you should be capable of doing so by using a - let’s say - ‘multi user pc’. By setting up different users on the pc you intend to you use you should be able to build the workstream.
Again - i would give a very high bet, that your external auditors will have a problem with that.

  • You could be right about the auditors but they are well aware of the small number of personnel employed in the adminstrative/financial area.
I may have to look at having the IT department (one person) in the loop. Hopefully, that will satisfy the auditors at least until I can get a handle on understanding the whole 404 situation.
