I am a CPA with 19 years of experience in public and private accounting. For the past 5 years, I have consulted with companies and non-profit organizations as their CFO/Controller on an outsourced basis. During 2004, I have performed SOX Section 404 compliance projects which have included:
- Initial project planning and budgeting
- Identification of critical processes
- Business process documentation (COSO framework)
- IT controls and process documentation (CobiT framework)
- Key control testing
- Summarizing results for management
- Acting as a liaison with our clients’ CPA/audit firms to ensure that there are no ‘surprises’ for my clients
I believe that by focusing on the fundamentals of internal controls, my clients minimize their compliance costs while maximizing the benefits of having better process knowledge.
While my primary goal is to ensure that my clients are in compliance with the Act, I believe that effective SOX solutions add value by providing decision information to managers who want to streamline their business processes.
