Auditor staff contraints to cause year-end reporting delays? 258

  • Anyone expect or heard rumblings that finalizing of audited year-end results will result from short staffing at auditing firms caused by the increased SOX compliance work? Heard of companies losing their auditors because of insufficient staff to serve all clients and would think that another logical fallout would be that companies would not be able to get their audit completed in the same time frame as prior year-ends for the same reason. Unable to locate any news stories on the subject; any links or references to such would also be appreciated.
    Thank you.

  • Hi
In the UK certainly some of the big auditors are dropping their smaller clients because of SOX work. We haven’t heard anything about late audits, but I tend to agree that it is a logical progression from their under-staffing.
