SOX advice 321

  • A company recently reinstated employee salaries for a cut that happened in '03, with the exception of one site. This site will not be receiving a pay increase. They have issued hard copies, which I’ve not read, forcing employees to sign saying they agree to this decision. The one site does not want to sign the document because they don’t agree and feel the company is using the document to avoid action by the employees. The response is that SOX requires these documents to be signed by employees. Does this apply here? I know very little about SOX and needed some feedback. Thanks.

  • I’m not a lawyer, but it sounds odd that SOx could be used to justify forcing employees to sign disadvantageous employment contracts.
I suspect that this would actually be illegal in some countries
