  • While going through this forum I collected a list of acronyms that I did not immediately recognize. I hope that the following are accurate and helpful for others. I think I know what SAP is but I hope someone can provide that definition.
    BC§: Business Continuity (Plan)
    Big-4: Deloitte and Touche, Ernst and Young, KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers
    COSO: Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission
    COBIT: Control Objectives for Information and Related Technologies
    DR§: Disaster Recovery (Plan)
    ERP: Enterprise Resource Planning
    GCC: General Computer Control
    PCI: Payment Card Industry
    SAP: ?
    SAS 70: Statement on Auditing Standards (SAS) No. 70
    SDLC: System Development Life Cycle
    SLA: Service Level Agreement
    SOD: Separation of Duties
    UAT: User Acceptance Testing

    SAP - This is often used to identify business enterprise software manufactured by the company with the same name:
    sap.com/usa/index.epx
    Otherwise, it might be used as an acronym for Security Access Profile…the security privileges assigned to a computer user.

  • SAP is a German acronym (Systemanalyse und Programmentwicklung) which could roughly translated as Systems and Application Products. The vendor of the SAP ERP is SAP AG which is a German company.
