Using Digital Signatures - Journals 3166

  • Hi,
We incur high cost on scanning and printing Journals. Can we use digital signatures and PDF converters to save this cost.
We are a SOX compliant company.

  • We are moving in that direction. Just double-check with your auditors.
There is nothing is any SOX rules that would prohibit digital signatures.

Thanks…However, accounting team suggested that PRINT OUT are required to be retained for 7 YEARS as per SOX…
I am not a CPA and know nothing about SOX…
What changes are you contemplating to bring to introduce Digital Signatures…

  • SOX doesn’t have any specific record-keeping requirements. The 7 years comes from the SEC regarding keeping support for all SEC filings for 7 years. The annual SOX assertion as to effectiveness of controls is part of the annual 10K filing. If you search within this forum, you will find other discussions regarding record keeping.
