  • If you are in the USA, contact Robert Half. We are using several of their consultants to assist us with our documentation and testing.

  • I am in the UK-do you have any contacts there. I would like to help with documentation and testing work.
    Thanks

Please I am very much interested in getting in touch with Robert Half. How can I reach him Please

  • I am intersted in finding fast track accredited courses in the UK for SOX training. Does anyone know where I might be able to find out information on this.

  • Hi MikeMf, me too. I have experience of process review/looking at control issues and would also like to get into SOX work so interested in any answers you get to your question as I would like to train too. Unless anyone thinks it’s unrealistic for someone who isn’t a qualified accountant? I’ve been treated as QBE in companies I’ve worked for. Hope this small hijack is OK.

  • Just realised that your name was Mf, not Mike and that the last post on this thread was ages ago. Still interested in any views on this. Thanks.

  • I have been called a IT Managers worst nightmare and or a dream auditor.
Before I got involved with SOX I worked in the trenches as an IT professional for 19 years. My work experience ranges from helpdesk support, network engineer to director of Information Technology. Worked on mainframes, mid-range, WANS, LANS, programming, database maintenance, etc.
It is surprising to me the reaction I get when I go to an assignment and the IT department thinks that I am just some auditor that does not have a clue about IT or has a limited knowledge. Some clients try to get over and make accusations of their networks cannot provide the requested documentation and I will not only call them on it but demonstrate on their own systems how to produce it. For the most part most clients appreciate that I understand the limitations of their systems/infrastructure and I can work with them to find a remediation or mitagated solution for an issue.
I guess where I am going on this is that I believe that a good 404 auditor cannot be created by passing an exam. The CISA should be attained to enhance your current career and should work along side your professional experience. It should not be used to start a career.
I am just worried that with all this talk about SOX and Audit careers that the CISA will turn into the MCSE of the late 90’s.

  • I agree with you. CISA is not enough. Experience is of paramount importance.
A young man, hired by a supermarket, reported for his first day of work. The manager greeted him with a warm handshake and a smile, gave him a broom and said, ’ your first job will be to sweep out the store .’
’ But I’m a college graduate ,’ the young man replied indignantly.
’ Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t know that ,’ said the manager. ’ Here, give me the broom, I’ll show you how .’
