Limit on Software Subscription Period? 2317

  • I am new to these forums, so I apologize in advance if I am in the wrong area. I am working with a vendor to purchase a software subscription (testing software). We will not receive funding again for 4 years and need to pay for the entire period to avoid a lapse in service. They claim that SOX prevents them from selling more than a 3-year subscription. Can someone point me to that part of the regulation, or is that really a company decision (not related to SOX)?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.
    Rick

  • There is no such SOX requirement or provision

  • Hi and welcome to the forums ๐Ÿ™‚
I agree with Denis that this type of specific language is not specifically part of SOX and seems to represent their own internal standards on maximum licensing periods. At best, there might an indirect relationship where the company has set a maximum period for product licensing, but itโ€™s their own interpretation in setting controls, rather than a SOX provision.
