Change Management Meeting Requirements 806

  • Good Morning,
Are ALL change requests required to go through Change Management Meetings? Currently low requests, which have no impact on the system with no risks, do require limited approvals, but are not required to be raised at CM meetings. Is there any set rules on what is/is not required for meetings?

  • There is no set rule. It is up to your organisation to set a policy that works for you and to adhere to it.

  • In our department anything that affects a system which has financial impact goes through our change control process. If it doesn’t potentially affect a financial system then it doesn’t have to go through change control.

There are no set rules, however I’ve seen a documented procedure at one client where they spell out changes that technicians can make that are considered ‘no risk’. This change is defined clearly as one that would have no possibility of causing a system outage or interuption in services. Also that it is routine in nature.
In this procedure there is not requirement for approval because it is part of their normal job, however the changes made are documented in a help desk ticket system. The technician is expected to document what was changed and close out the ticket.
